One of the powerful tools I use in my coaching is perspectives exploration. The way we orient ourselves towards a situation influences what we see and what we do, or better yet, what we believe we are able to do. I see possibilities open up for my clients when they explore other perspectives and choose to stand in a more open and expanded space. They become more creative in the choices available to them, It is beautiful to witness. You know, we all have the power of creative choice, and what we choose to see in a situation, impacts our ability to act in that situation. The lesson for me in being thankful, is a constant reminder to choose the perspective of gratitude. What am I thankful for today? I make it real by keeping a 5-minute journal. I write down what I am thankful for at the beginning of each day. A study by Emmons and McCullough in 2003, found that keeping a daily journal of gratitude leads to better sleep, reduced physical pain and much more. Will you take this challenge with me and write down what you are thankful for every day for the next 7 days? What did you notice?
